The Nature Photographs of the Year 2024
The winners of the Nature Photo of the Year competition and other award-winning photos will be on display at Vapriikki from February onwards. The winning photo of the 44th Nature Photo of the Year competition is Timo Mylläri's stunning bird photo "Ruuhka", a unique and striking snap shot of a flying ruff.
The aim of the Nature Photo of the Year competition is to spotlight Finnish nature and the year’s best photographs of Finnish nature – in all its beauty and diversity. A total of 12 116 images from 774 photographers were uploaded to the Nature Photo of the Year 2024 competition.
This year’s Nature Photo of the Year competition had nine categories, one of which has a different theme each year. For each series, the jury selected the winner, the 2nd and 3rd prize winners and the winners of the Honourable Mention, and finally the Nature Photo of the Year from among all the winners. The Nature Photo of the Year, the winners of the competition and the other prizewinners will form the Nature Photo of the Year 2024 exhibition, which will tour around Finland for the next year.
